The Vader Project

After 33 years, the Star Wars franchise is still as popular as ever. George Lucas did his best to kill it with episodes 1 – 3, but fans still are excited about anything that has Yoda or Vader or a an X-wing or a Tie Fighter on it. I admit that it has been a while since I watched the original trilogy. When I was ten, however, I used to watch A New Hope at least twice a week. So any day that we get a new toy or poster in at the shop is a good day.

And I’m not the only one who can still quote 80% of Episode 4. Star Wars, for many reasons, has remained at the forefront of popular culture. Now that those of us who used to sleep in Star Wars bed sheets have grown up, the iconic images that we have had burned into our brains still rest near the top of our imaginations.

For The Vader Project, Freeman’s got over 20 artists to paint 100 Darth Vader helmets for auction. A lot of the big names in toy design have participated in this one, like Amanda Visell, Huck Gee, Joe Ledbetter, and Sket One to name a few. To that I say, “Cool.”
